Glamour

The main female character in this opera is a high-class prostitute who makes the mistake of going beyond the call of duty and truly falling in love. As a high-priced "gentleman's companion," she lived quite a glamorous life, as became a woman who associates with rich and powerful men. Her love for one man in particular changes her life. Unfortunately, the gentleman who returns her love has a father who doesn't much care for having a "demi monde" for a daughter-in-law. Needless to say, all does not end well. His father lets the two lovers back together, only for her to die in her love's arms.
