C.P.E. Bach: Flute Concerto

One child just didn't seem to be enough for the great Johann Sebastian Bach. In fact, Bach went on to have twenty children over the course of two marriages during his lifetime! What's even more amazing than the gigantic size of the Bach family is that papa Johann Sebastian's gift of music seemed to rub off on several of his children. Four of his sons – Wilhelm Friedemann, Carl Philip Emanuel, Johann Christian and Johann Christoph Friedrich – all went on to become well-known composers in their own right. Carl Philip Emanuel is particularly noted as one of the composers whose music helped bridge the gap between the Baroque and Classical eras. CPE's music was so highly respected in his lifetime that Mozart even said of him "He is the father, and we are the children."
