Musical Criminals

This week on the show, we're taking the law into our own hands and looking at the dastardly deeds of classical music in a show called "Musical Criminals"!

Did you know...

  • Richard Wagner got involved in a political uprising in Dresden, and escaped to Zurich for 12 years to avoid being arrested!
  • Renaissance composer Carlo Gesulado murdered his wife and her lover when they were caught in the act, but avoided punishment because he was a nobleman and the nephew of a pope.
  • Robert Schumann tried to send his father-in-law to prison for "defamation of character," after he sent a letter around town claiming Schumann was a drunk.
  • When Johann Sebastian Bach tried to break his contract in Weimar and take a job elsewhere, he was thrown in jail for a month!
