Indiana University Bloomington recently selected the three apartment complexes it will partner with to house students while it renovates two dorms next school year.

IU will temporarily close Foster and McNutt residence halls in May for renovations after ongoing issues with mold.

The university had to find alternate housing for about 1,100 returning students who registered to live on campus.

Those students will live at The Park on Morton, Reserve on Third, and Smallwood on College.

"These were just the companies that reached out and wanted to work with us on this, were able to work out some details that worked in the situation, and they had the space available," says IU spokesperson Chuck Carney

Students will be placed in apartments or waitlisted based on how early they signed a housing contract with the university.

"We certainly prefer to have the students who want to live on campus, live on campus," Carney says. "But we feel like this is as good an option we can provide."

Carney says students assigned to the apartments won’t be required to pay a deposit or utilities.
