The Monroe County Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Committee could vote today on whether to include the construction of I-69 in its Transportation Improvement Plan or TIP.
If the MPO does not vote in favor of the road, the Indiana Department of Transportation has said it will not sign off on the TIP and the county could then lose federal funding for all MPO projects after 2012.
The MPO has convened to vote on I-69 on three occasions, but each time postponed making a decision. It seems likely committee members will actually vote today.
The meeting is scheduled for 1:30 in the city council chambers at the Showers Building.
