On this installment of The Uncle Dan and Sophie Jam, we take another creative journey in words and music with Dan Wakefield and Sophie Faught.

What's it like to get going as a writer and a musician? Dan, the author of novels, memoirs and film scripts, tells us what it was like starting out in the 1950s. And, Sophie, a brilliant saxophone player, is 12 years into her career, which has taken her from the Indianapolis jazz tradition and on to Lincoln Center, and jazz festivals around the globe.

Aaron Cain hosts Morning Music weekdays from nine to noon, and is WFIU’s Music Director.
