General Types of Planned Gifts:
There are several methods for making a charitable gift through estate planning:
Bequests
A bequest in your will or living trust naming WFIU and/or WTIU as a beneficiary is the easiest and most popular deferred gift plan. Donors may name WFIU/WTIU as a percentage beneficiary or for a specific dollar amount or specific assets.
Retirement Plan Assets
Retirement plan benefits include assets held in individual retirement accounts (IRAs) and in accounts under 401(k) plans, profit-sharing plans, and 403(b) plans. Income taxes on retirement plan assets are deferred while they accrue but are subject to income tax when withdrawn during retirement or passed on to heirs. This makes giving loved ones less heavily taxed assets and leaving your retirement plan to a charitable organization something to consider.
Naming WFIU and WTIU as a beneficiary of your retirement account is simple for you and can provide a very meaningful gift to this station. See your financial advisor for options.
Gift of Life insurance
You can name WFIU or WTIU as owner and beneficiary of an existing or new policy, or make WFIU or WTIU the beneficiary of all or a portion of your existing life insurance policy.
Income-Producing Planned Gifts
A charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust can provide you with tax benefits and income in return.
