The Uncle Dan And Sophie Jam: Cole Porter

Dan Wakefield and Sophie Faught
Dan Wakefield and Sophie Faught

In this month’s special Uncle Dan and Sophie Jam, it’s a celebration in story and song of one of the greatest names in the Great American Songbook – Peru, Indiana, native Cole Porter. Dan Wakefield and Sophie Faught will talk with Cathy Day, also a Peru native, who is writing a novel about Porter. And, Sophie and her trio will offer interpretations of some of the many Porter tunes that will live forever. Porter famously said, “If I was born 20 years earlier, then I would have been an Indiana banker.” That had been his father’s wish; and, fortunately for all of us, it did not come true. The show was recorded live before an audience at the Jazz Kitchen in Indianapolis.

Aaron Cain hosts Morning Music weekdays from nine to noon, and is WFIU’s Music Director.
