An exhibition of digitally manipulated photographs by Paul Smedberg is on view for the month of July at the Ivy Tech John Waldron Art Center. The co-owner of a small advertising agency in Bloomington, the graphic designer sat down with WFIU's Yaël Ksander to explain the art photography he pursues as an avocation.
The exhibition "What am I looking at?" showcases Smedberg's digital collages of photographs he's taken of factories, ruins, forests, friends, and flowers.
"I've taken thousands of pictures in one section of woods, and I've watched trees fall and rot away," Smedberg muses. "I find those edges really interesting. And those are the ones that are most expressive to me, the most fecund with meaning."
