A Little Romance

Although this set of three simple minuets are closely identified with the composer's wife, their name gives a somewhat skewed idea of what they were. It was actually two books, assembled about three years apart, the first containing an array of compositions, the second containing a mixture of music by this composer and other contemporary composers. They were anthologies, or, if you will, sort of like mix tapes—a romantic gift presented by a loving husband to his wife. While they contained mostly keyboard music, there were also a few arias mixed in, too—appropriately since the composer's wife had been a professional singer before her marriage.
