Born into a Korean-Chinese family, Joe Wong came to the United States to study biochemistry at Rice University. After getting his PhD, he discovered standup comedy and has been a comic ever since.
Mr. Wong has appeared several times on the Late Show with David Letterman, headlined the annual dinner hosted by the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association, and placed first in the Third Annual Great American Comedy Festival.
In 2013, he moved back to China, where he hosts television shows, such as the popular myth busting program Is It True for China Central Television.
