Foreign Correspondent Roger Cohen

I at last understood where I came from. I also got to the bottom of my mother’s story—where she’d gone when she disappeared from my life when I was two.

Roger Cohen is a journalist, author, and columnist for the International New York Times and The New York Times, where his columns appear every Tuesday and Friday.

He has worked as a foreign correspondent in 15 countries, and now serves as Times’s foreign editor.

His books include Hearts Grown Brutal: Sagas of Sarajevo and Soldiers and Slaves: American POWs Trapped by the Nazis’ Final Gamble, and a family memoir, The Girl from Human Street: Ghosts of Memory in a Jewish Family.
