The city announced Thursday it reached an agreement to raise wages for AFSCME employees about 17 percent over four years, starting with a 5 percent raise Jan. 1.

AFSCME Local 2487 employees continued to urge council to not pass the budget until contract negotiations with city administration finish.

During Monday department hearings, Bloomington Corporation Counsel Beth Cate said she is unsure if negotiations will conclude by the scheduled budget adoption in October.

The new budget could come with electric scooter enforcement, the end of leaf vacuuming, and an unfinished union negotiation.
