A Bloomington woman charged last year with a racially-motivated stabbing of an Asian Indiana University student will go to trial after being deemed competent in a hearing last week.

Local charges against Billie Davis were dismissed after she was charged with a federal hate crime in connection with the attack.

If convicted on the federal charge, Billie Davis could serve a life sentence.
