Proposed rule changes would limit the season to 40 southern Indiana counties, include a bag limit of one per trapper, and a statewide quota of 250 bobcats.

Bobcats were taken off the Indiana endangered species list in 2005. Now, the bill’s author, Sen. Scott Baldwin (R-Noblesville), said their numbers could be growing out of control.

The proposal advanced from committee on Thursday and now heads to the full Senate chamber.
