The Monroe County Sheriff’s pay raise proposal has been tabled indefinitely by the county council.

A new year means a few new faces in Monroe County government. Wednesday’s swearing-in ceremony at the courthouse featured 11 elected officials, from county coroner to county council.

The 52-acre property at the northwest corner of I-69 and State Road 46 will be purchased for $11.375 million.

In a 5-1 vote on Tuesday evening, the council voted yes on the 0.175 percent income tax increase.

Only two members of the public shared their opinion during the hearing.

In a 6-1 vote, the council decided to reduce the special LIT rate to .03 percent and increase the correctional rate to 2.2 percent.
