Hunters at Griffy Lake harvested 19 deer over two deer hunt weekends last month. That is significantly lower than previous years.

Griffy Lake will be closed from Nov. 16-17 and Nov. 23-24 for a deer hunt. Residents will not be able to hike, fish or boat.

Proposed changes include a statewide bag limit of six deer per hunter, a newly created County Antlerless Bag Limit, adding deer Reduction Zones bag limits and more.

Hunts in to 2019 and 2020 removed 26 and 40 deer from the property, respectively.

The application deadline is drawing near for hunters to participate in deer reduction hunts at 19 state properties in November.
