A Bloomington city commission has postponed consideration of demolition requests for five historic homes on the city’s east side.

Nine buildings on the former IU Health Bloomington Hospital site will be demolished starting Friday.

The building that was Burger Chef in Speedway was the site where four young workers were abducted in 1978 and found slain two days later in a field a county away.

The demolition includes seven residential homes, one apartment complex and two warehouses within the eastern portion of the hospital redevelopment site.
