It projected that more than 400,000 neighborhoods will lose population in the next 30 years — mostly in the Northeast and Great Lakes states.

While other parts of the country may have hotter temperatures overall, counties stretching from eastern Texas to southwest Michigan will have at least one day a year where the temperature feels like 125 degrees or more.

Infrastructure like hospitals, power plants, and roads are at more of a risk for flooding over the next 30 years than residential homes. That makes cities' most basic and critical operations less functional during a flood.
