Democrat Wendy Dant Chesser has been elected to the Indiana House District 71 seat, less than a year after being caucused into the spot.

Indiana Republican state Rep. Ed Clere was elected to a ninth term in District 72, which covers most of Floyd County in Southern Indiana, according to unofficial results.

National Weather Service Louisville reported one tornado touched down at the Indiana University Southeast campus on Grant Line Road in New Albany before crossing to the nearby Carriage House apartments.
