graduate workers strike iu

The council was created in response to an ongoing conflict about working conditions for graduate students. Graduate student workers at IU have been organizing since Fall 2019, protesting stipends and compensations.

The graduate union strike was suspended on May 10 for the summer. IGWC-UE plans to resume the strike in the fall unless an agreement is reached with the administration.

Looking toward the fall, the university will be putting together a task force to implement changes, IU spokesperson Chuck Carney told WFIU last week.
