The Indiana House advanced a bill this week to prohibit state employers, colleges and universities from making prospective employees or students take extra skill tests because of the type of school they attended.

McCormick worked in public education for nearly 18 years as a special education and language arts teacher, school principal and superintendent.

Most of the new policies took effect July 1, though some changes are still a year or two out from full implementation.
