Former U.S. Rep. Steve Buyer was sentenced Tuesday in New York. The Republican served in the House from 1993 to 2011.

The 63-year-old Noblesville, Indiana, man was arrested at home in his home state. But he appeared in Manhattan federal court Wednesday to plead not guilty.

Stephen Buyer, a Republican congressman from 1993 through 2011, served on committees with oversight over the telecommunications industry, the indictment said.
