The IU-Ukraine Nonresidential Scholar Program provides a one-year scholarship, library access and collaboration opportunities for Ukrainian academics. These scholars specialize in the humanities or social sciences. 

“They're fighting for us. They're fighting for their own freedom, the values, their identity,” former Ambassador William Taylor said. “But those are our values.”

In 2018, the U.S. State Department awarded IU a grant of just under $1 million to implement academic programs at the university, which is known as NaUKMA. IU contributed an additional $360,000 to the project.
