Jerome Adams

Adams says he takes a socially minded approach to public health. He believes that economic opportunity and social welfare are the best prevention for health problems in marginalized communities.

Adams served as surgeon general under President Trump and led the Indiana State Department of Health’s responses to Ebola, Zika, and HIV.

Purdue announced Adams will be joining the school as a presidential fellow and the university’s first executive director of health equity initiatives. He’ll also teach in the public health and healthcare engineering programs.
