The change honors David Baker, a former professor of music and founder of jazz studies in the Jacobs School of Music.

The IU Board of Trustees voted Friday to approve changing the name of Jordan Avenue to Eagleson Avenue, matching a change that city officials are making for its section of the street.

The street will be renamed Eagleson Avenue, in honor of a Black family that spans multiple generations of Bloomington’s history.
