Before recorded sound, one of the primary ways we enjoyed music was by making it ourselves. After you’ve enjoyed your supper and a glass of port, pick up a lute and sing some tunes. This week on Harmonia, we’ll explore soft sounds for small spaces. Our featured release is Regina Angelorum with Ensemble Vox Archangeli.

On this edition of Harmonia, we tune up strings of the violin, cello, viola da gamba, and lute, with music in scordatura, or alternate tunings, of strange and familiar instruments.

I actually played some of these pieces on the violin, not very well, but I've been with Bach a long time.
