The 4-3 decision during Tuesday’s board meeting is a win for the 16 members of the public who spoke in opposition to the current mask requirements.

The updated policy, which can be adopted by each individual school district, allows students and staff identified as close contacts to remain in school if they are asymptomatic and the district has a mask policy in place.

A new policy was adopted that will evaluate schools and classrooms on an individual basis without the entire district switching back to online learning.
