A Bloomington city department head says she’s open to studying permanently closing some of Kirkwood Avenue to drivers.

The City of Bloomington is considering a long-term extension of a program that temporarily closes Kirkwood Avenue to motor vehicles every year.

The draft legislation was widely seen as an effort to prevent homeless individuals from camping on sidewalks, streets and roads.

Council members on Wednesday approved a resolution to raise Nicole Bolden’s pay from her 2023 salary of $64,773 to $87,000 next year.

The council says it wants to work with city administration on a new, improved proposal.
