Indiana mayors, city and town clerks and councilors would be elected in presidential election years under a bill, approved by a Senate committee Monday.

Monroe County Clerk Nicole Browne has hired Kylie Moreland as election supervisor and Laura Wert as chief deputy clerk.

The local League of Women Voters chapter says it's concerned by Monroe County's current lack of an election supervisor.

Monroe County Clerk Nicole Browne said the request was prompted by an increased cost of living and a lack of employee pay growth.

Wheeler served as election supervisor for more than eight years and said she hopes to continue working for the county.
