The Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office says it will not file charges against 55 people arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass during protests at Indiana University’s Dunn Meadow last month.

Bender said he did not intend to violate any election laws when he declared his candidacy using a District 6 address he didn’t live at but intended to move to.

Local charges against Billie Davis were dismissed after she was charged with a federal hate crime in connection with the attack.

The county council also approved more than $90,000 from the county general fund to go toward the public defender’s office.
