The West Nile virus is primarily spread by mosquitoes. It has been detected in mosquitoes throughout the state.

The Indiana Department of Health found the first West Nile case this year in a Johnson County resident.

There is currently no treatment or vaccine for the virus, so the Monroe County Health Department recommends eliminating sources of standing water where mosquitos can breed.

It might sound strange, but some orchids smell like people. Others smell like rotting meat or fish to attract pollinators.
