Since John Bacone joined DNR in 1978, the number of nature preserves in Indiana has grown sixfold: from 46 to 300.

This 31-acre preserve called Fix-Stoelting, is part of a larger project Sycamore Land Trust has been working on called the Bean Blossom Creek Conservation.

A conservation group plans to use a $1 million donation to help reforestation work and add property to a 700-acre woodland it protects in central Indiana.
