Nearly 450 new undergraduate students enrolled this year. It's a step in the right direction for solving Indiana’s nursing shortage.

The Indiana State Nurses Association submitted written testimony last week to the state’s Health Care Cost Oversight Task Force, and said improving working conditions for nurses can reduce overall health care costs.

Legislation would help alleviate a dire need for nurses in the state. Rising rental rates are making it difficult for persons just getting out of jail to find housing. And, advocates rally over a bill that would ban transgender girls from girls sports.

Hospital officials and health care organizations told legislators that thousands of nursing jobs are open across the state in a shortage exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
