The Bloomington-Monroe County Metropolitan Planning Organization is gathering public input on the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan for the Bloomington metropolitan area.

The Ellettsville Town Council says it will help Monroe County fund Rural Transit for part of 2024 to ensure riders can receive regular service in the immediate future.

The report also revealed that systems are serving more people but logging fewer miles, and that urban systems are more cost-efficient.

An ordinance passed Wednesday lays the groundwork for BT to expand service beyond Bloomington's city limits.

The 2020 Census reestablished what the Federal Transit Administration considers an urbanized area, making it so that Rural Transit can't service parts of the county starting in 2024.

Same-day rides will be limited to two per day per user and subject to a two-hour pickup window.
