How can people in Indiana find financial information for their local township’s office? One listener inspired this question.

Townships throughout the state provide hyperlocal services to residents within their coverage areas. However, many townships run differently, sometimes leaving confusion about the services they offer and how they can help.

While not all states have this hyperlocal form of government, Indiana has more than 1,000 townships across the state.

Last week, a House committee passed a bill that would give township boards more input on township budgets. On Thursday, a Senate committee passed a bill that would create a process for removing township trustees.
