WTIU earns 10 Telly Awards for local programs

The Telly Awards named WTIU the winner of 10 awards in its 44th annual competition, which honors excellence in video and television across all screens.

The Telly Awards named WTIU the winner of 10 awards in its 44th annual competition, which honors excellence in video and television across all screens.

WTIU’s television series Journey Indiana earned five Tellys, including four Silvers in the cultural, videography/cinematography, automotive/vehicles, and editing categories, and one Bronze in the travel/tourism category.

“Peggy’s Poetry and Zarg,” a segment from WTIU’s local children’s series The Friday Zone, won five Tellys, including five Bronzes in the voiceover, children, and directing categories.

After receiving these Telly Awards, WTIU and its sister station WFIU have earned a total of 38 awards so far this year, including 16 Society of Professional Journalists Awards from the Indiana Professional Chapter, nine Communicator Awards, and three Regional Murrows. WTIU is also nominated for 11 NATAS Central Great Lakes Emmys. The Emmy winners will be announced on June 17.
