The Theta Beta chapter of the Chi Omega Fraternity is unable to recruit or conduct activities while Indiana University investigates the sorority.
According to a statement from a Chi Omega spokesperson, IU is investigating unknown allegations involving the chapter on the Bloomington campus.
"During the investigation, chapter activities have been postponed, though the extent to which is still unknown at this time," the statement from Whitney Plumpton says. "The announcement from the University was made during sorority formal recruitment, and chapter leaders made the decision to withdraw from the recruitment process."
Recruitment is set to wrap up Tuesday night. The statement says IU informed the national organization of the investigation on Friday.
Plumpton says the Chi Omega Executive Headquarters will partner with IU as the investigation continues.
Chi Omega Fraternity does not tolerate harassment, hazing, or bullying of any kind and prohibits any activity that endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a person," Plumpton said in the statement.
IU spokesperson Chuck Carney declined to offer details on the investigation.
