Indiana University football coach Bill Lynch and his staff have been fired, following the team's 1-7 record in Big Ten play. In a press release, Athletics Director Fred Glass thanked Lynch for his service to IU, and said he hopes to have a smooth transition to next season. Glass will be personally overseeing the search for a new coach, though will be discussing the team's options with various faculty and community members, along with an athletics consultant firm. Glass did not say when he hopes to have a new head coach named. Lynch won just six of the 32 Big Ten games he coached at IU. He still had one year left on his contract at the time of his dismissal.
