If everything goes as planned, the historic Wigwam gymnasium in Anderson will be saved from demolition.
The Wigwam was the second largest high school gym in the country, but because of the high cost of operating it, the school district had to shut its doors a year ago.
After a deal to save the property fell through earlier this year, the Anderson Redevelopment Commission and the Anderson Community Schools board of trustees now plan to hand over the property to Indianapolis-based Black and White Investments and Pinebrook Properties next week.
Renovations are expected to begin early next year.
