Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton announced plans today for new affordable housing developments. The new apartments will be located next to the proposed Switchyard Park. He says affordable housing developments will help provide diverse housing opportunities in the area.
"We expect private investment and development. People will see this great asset coming to the community to help create the neighborhood. And we want to be sure that we are also protecting the ability of people from all walks of life to enjoy this great park on the way," Hamilton says.
The development is proposed to be built in two phases with eight units each. The apartments will be $550 to $650 for one bedroom units and $655 to $850 for two bedroom units.
Switchyard Apartments will be developed by South Central Indiana Housing Opportunities, a nonprofit affiliate of the Bloomington Housing Authority.
