Despite wet weather and more on the way, Indiana's corn crop is more than halfway planted, with soybeans near a quarter of the way there as of this week.
Purdue soil agronomist Gary Steinhardt says some rain is good for a planting season. But he says recent heavy downpours will have left waterlogged soil for farmers who haven't planted yet.
"Some parts of the field may be beyond redemption in that particular situation," Steinhardt says.
For those who planted before the rains, Steinhardt says drier conditions later this summer could offset the moisture.
