The Monroe Co. YMCA's Center for Children and Families is set to close by December 22. The facility has been located at the Northwest YMCA since it opened in 2013.
In a statement, CEO Jason Winkle says they are not able to meet the financial costs to remain a licensed child care center.
"We are also aware families are already paying a premium price for the YCCF program, and increasing enrollment fees is not a viable solution," Winkle says.
In an email sent to parents, Winkle says there is the possibility of an earlier closure if the teacher/child ratio requirements are not met.
Families were also given a reference to other centers as alternatives.
The statement says YMCA officials will eventually plan to repurpose the use of that space to best serve their members.
