Indiana transportation officials say State Road 46 resurfacing and lane modification work will start in a week.
INDOT introduced the project, which has proved to be controversial, at a February Bloomington City Council meeting.
The project reduces two traffic lanes for bike lanes and a center turning lane beginning at Clarizz Boulevard.

An INDOT statement this week says crews will begin relocating lighting and signal wiring the last week of March followed by curb work in April. Repaving is planned to start in June.
Officials say the majority of resurfacing work will take place at night to limit daytime lane closures.
The lane modification follows a pattern of crashes involving motorists turning left into oncoming traffic. INDOT says a traffic safety audit and a traffic flow evaluation was done in 2018.
Work should be complete in August.
