Bloomington's Golden Living Centers Confirm 37 COVID-19 Cases

A long-term care facility in Bloomington is taking steps to minimize the effects of a growing number of COVID-19 cases at a southside facility.

Golden Living Center has confirmed 27 residents and 10 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. Facility officials say they confirmed their first case May 11 and have been working to mitigate transmission since.

The majority of residents are not currently showing symptoms of coronavirus, the sickness associated with COVID-19, but some are currently hospitalized. A total of 119 residents call the facility home.

Wesley Rogers is the President of Golden Living Center’s Indiana. He says transparency is a priority.

"We want to send a clear message to all of the families and residents that we’re here to open and transparent," he says. Rogers says the facility plans to "work together with them [caregivers and families] throughout this national emergency."

He says staff at the facility is working hard to ensure residents are receiving the best possible care and families can remain connected with their loved ones.
