1. Whiting, Indiana refinery reopens following unplanned shutdown
The Associated Press reports a northern Indiana refinery that partially shut down earlier this month is up and running again.
The refinery was forced to shut down unexpectedly on August 8th, and gas prices quickly shot up to around three dollars per gallon in the Hoosier state.
2. Third case of West Nile virus found in Indiana
A third human case of West Nile virus has been confirmed in the northern Indiana county of St. Joseph.
The Indiana State Department of Health says that mosquitoescarrying the virus have been found in 27 Indiana counties.
3. 50,000 Hoosiers to lose food stamp benefits
A new law in Indiana makes it illegal for unemployed residents without children to take part in the food stamp program.
Lawmakers took away the employment requirement in 2008, but with the job market and economy improving, lawmakers have reinstated the provision.
