Bloomington Police Department officers located a man they suspect was involved in the death of a woman found at the scene of an apartment fire.
Officers worked with police in Columbia, South Carolina, to detain 30-year-old Eric Quentin Johnson who police say stole 32-year-old Teresa Michael’s car and fled south, according to a press release. Michael was found unconscious on Jan. 28 in a fire at the 500 block of South Basswood Drive. The Monroe County coroner later ruled Michael died by strangulation prior to the fire.
Police say Johnson fled Bloomington to Waycross, Georgia, and then took a bus to Columbia. BPD contacted police there who waited at the bus stop for Johnson’s arrival. After detaining him, police in Georgia located Michael’s car outside of Waycross city limits.
