City Sends Emergency Utility Crews To Repair Four Water Main Breaks

Emergency utility crews have been sent to repair four water main breaks today, according to a release from the city.

According to the release, the breaks occurred at Sixth & Grant downtown, Allen & Lincoln in Bryan Park neighborhood, St. James & Forrester in Hyde Park neighborhood, and Old State Road 37 & Fairfax Road.

Water service was shut off for some customers in those areas and addresses that lost water service are under a Boil Water Advisory. The advisory will be lifted after 24 hours or as advised by the city.

Addresses affected by the water main breaks can be found on the city utility’s web page.

The city issued these instructions for those placed under the advisory:

“Immediately after your normal water pressure is restored, run COLD water from a sink or tub until clear water flows from the faucet. Boil all water used for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene for at least 5 minutes prior to consumption. It is not necessary to boil water for other uses.”
