City Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19

One City employee has tested positive for COVID-19 this week, according to Bloomington’s weekly COVID-19 press release. This is the first case among City workers in two weeks.

The employee, whose office is located in City Hall but currently works from home, tested positive Feb. 19. This brings total cases among City workers to 72. Four City employees have tested positive in February compared to 13 in January and 22 in December.

According to the City, no close contacts occurred among co-workers or the general public. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention define a close contact as someone within six feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting two days before symptoms appear.

The Indiana Department of Health reported Thursday 18 new cases in Monroe County and one new death, increasing the county total to 10,285 cases and 159 deaths.
