Raw water samples taken Feb. 19 and 20 showed the presence of some benzene, a natural part of gasoline that has been shown to cause cancer. However, the amount found was below the Environmental Protection Agency's Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL).
Patoka Lake Regional Water staff took additional water samples on Feb. 22, the results of which are pending.
The Indiana State Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
